Part 2 of 4: Holiday Marketing - Who’s Your Audience?

If you read our first blog, you already have at least one holiday marketing goal in mind. Now that you have your goals in mind, it’s time to focus on your audience. Think about any time you see an ad, whether it’s on TV, in magazine, in a newspaper, or perhaps even an online ad in Facebook or on Instagram. Those ads are all doing the same thing. They are trying to talk to – or connect – with their intended audience. This is what you want to do with your offer. You want to connect with your audience in a meaningful, inspiring way. But first, you need to determine who you’re talking to. The more you can visualize your audience, the more you can connect with them.

So, who is the audience you want to connect with for your offer? A great way to start is by considering who your VERY BEST customer or client is and then create an offer that appeals to that person. When you think about this person, think about their generalities, their demographics. What age range do they represent? What’s their geographic and financial status? What are their interests? This is the general audience you want to target. The more you can define these aspects, the stronger your connection. The more you can talk TO, versus AT them.

You might have different audience segments, and that’s ok. For example, perhaps you have VIP customers, regular customers, those who haven’t been into your store in a while, and also prospects who have yet to be in your store. You can create different offers for each segment or you can create one offer for your entire audience. Or you can do some combination thereof. For example, you might have a 15% off offer to your entire audience and you might also hold a special event only for your VIP customers!
